The issue with 'people' always is and always will be that some of them expect less-important, irrelevant or impossible things. By no means does that require 'us' to meet all the people's demands. Instead 'we', the in-crowd should select the relevant ones and give that our full attention.

I'm not sure there is anything to discuss really.
Dynamic pathfinding is possible. Chris Sawyers problem was that he had to have a pathfinding routine that ran at 10fps (i think) on those "old" computers.

I think uzurpator was alone in this idea.
Maybe a quick poll is in order?

I don't think Uzurpator's idea was any good at all.

If aarona's post was against, Uzy's, then I'm with him.

I haven't read Uzurpator's post, and if I did, I can't remember it anyway.

It is quite useless to think of a pathfinder before you have a method of laying track (and storing them), you could make a fancy tile-based pathfinder, but it would be totally useless if you aren't saving tracks tile-based.

Locked until the DD discussion arrives at this issue.
